Remote programming dilemma
« on: June 06, 2023, 07:18:05 PM »
Does anyone here have a modem-equipped PC?  My laptop crapped out and I also had to replace my desktop.  My existing modems wouldn't work with Windows 10, so I bought some USB ones.  They connect, but no joy because they recently converted my POTS lines from Spectrum to IP.  I would need someone to remote into a system with my guidance (unless you can provide me with remote access).  This customer has been waiting for over a week for routine programming changes and the list is growing.  Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't say which system, which remote access program, etc is needed.
If CON is the opposite of PRO

It is a Vodavi/Vertical XTS600, and it can be programmed through any standard terminal emulation, like HyperTerminal or Procomm.  The system has a dedicated DID number for access to the internal modem.  I'd be on the phone with you in order to provide step-by-step instructions.

Ed:  How long do you think the programming will take?
I just replaced my knee on Monday, and not getting aroung too well.
My computer is downstairs.
If you could wait until Tuesday, I will see how well I can get up and down the stairs.
Send me a PM on Monday (or thru here) to see how I am doing, i can let you know if Tues is doable.
Does my computer need or can't use a specific Windows Version?
I have a WinXP and a Windows 7.  I keep my XP around for getting into Norstar Phone systems.

Jim, I'm at your mercy with regard to timing and I'll be sure to make myself available.  Any version of Windows below 8 works fine with most terminal programs that I've been using, so that won't be an issue.  Everything should be done in 20-30 minutes tops.

And maybe we could do this on Monday afternoon. Do you have AnyDesk?
Good way to see my computer while I dial in.
