I've used QB desktop for a while, although I'm only scratching the surface with what it can do.
I updated to QB 2017 the last time. I had the install disk and when I got a Win 10 computer a few years ago, it installed fine and updated when updates were available. A few months ago I got a new laptop with Win 11. I thought it was time to update QB, so I looked online and discovered that there were no more standalone, desktop versions available. Even tho they called it a "desktop" version, it required a subscription.
I was able to use my install disk once again. Did the update and I was back to where I wanted to be. Now I'm careful to not click on anymore updates that are offered, because I think that might put me into a subscription model. Not going there.
Online, I found a lot of unhappy customers and former customers that said the new desktop subscription indeed keeps your data in the cloud. And if you decide to quit using QB, you cannot get your data back. Doesn't sound good.
Good luck Stacey.
