Networked 100 remote park/page pickup
« on: July 05, 2010, 02:49:22 PM »
I have a customer with 2 - networked OS100's, both on s/w 2.76, both have MGI16 cards in slot 1.

Site A has trunks and all incoming calls, and central voicemail.

Site B has just TDM stations, all out calling and voicemail use SPNET to site A.

Just moved both sites off cable internet onto more stable and reliable ADSL from phone company - both sides have static IP's.  All same network gear, port forwarding, SPNET working 95% of the time.

2 issues:
1. Sometimes when site B tries to press a NS key or dial 9 and an external number, there is a long delay and then "out of order" shows up in display.  Repeated hammering of link with redial seems to get link to work, once call is in progress, voice quality is 100%.    There are NO issues calling site A to B - every call goes through.

2. Site A answers the calls, and she says she would put the call on hold at her phone, then page to site B (NP key) which always works, and site B would use "hldpk NSxxx" and it would work.   Aparently it worked, and now doesnt, I can't find any way to make the hold/park pickup work over the network.  Am I hunting for ghosts and she thinks it worked but never did?

I'm on site, have downloaded (but never used) wireshark to try and capture the traffic on both sides.  Thankfully, both sides have just been switched to ADSL, and the phone system is alone on the network, so there will not be any user traffic...  I'm not familiar with how wireshark works, I could sure use some help with capturing useful data...
Thanks guys,
Marty Atherton

That sounds almost identical to the issue I was having between a 7400 and a 100 just the other week except I was getting "Opp Channels not available" when calling from the 100 to the 7400.  (Call went through 100% of the time from the 7400 to the 7100.)  After a lot of troubleshooting it came down to a simple reset on the 7400 and everything started working again and has been for a week now.

If you haven't reset Site A give that a whirl.

I rebooted site A again last night and it ran all day today without a hitch...  Thanks Tom, i'll monitor again tomorrow and make sure its up again tomorrow.

I never did figure out how to use wireshark to monitor the traffic going to/from the MGI card...  I think I will need a 'dumb hub' to do it, the smart switches are not broadcasting the packets to all ports, I could only get it to show me the traffic going into my laptop... I will ask for more detailed help in 'installers'.

There is a pretty good webinar on GSBN about Wireshark and how to use it for troubleshooting SIP.  It doesnt cover SPNET though but It was a pretty good starting point for me.

I'm not sure where it's at on the GSBN site, but you can go back and watch previous webinars. I will look around to see if I can find the correct area. For some reason... I want to say it under the sales area.

Hey Marty...

I just sent an e-mail off to Samsung. I see your problem with GSBN because I got the same thing.

Well, since the reboot on the 7th, its been running 100%.  Must have had some database corruption or something...  Its been rock solid (as Samsung systems usually are) ever since.
