What's a good DNS server IP?
« on: July 18, 2021, 03:57:33 AM »
After realizing how my connectivity issues were due to a DNS server issue, I changed my router from the default cable company's setting for the DNS server to 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2.  I cannot believe how much faster my web searches load and now I know why.

Still, as with everything on the internet, I'm sure that some of these DNS resources are also farming our data.  With that said, what's a good one that can be trusted?  I'm pretty sure that 2.2.2.2 is Google's, so I really don't want to keep using it if I can avoid it.

4.4.4.4 and 4.2.2.1 are Level 3, but I don't know if they farm.

Here is a little review of some of the open DNS servers:  https://www.wizcase.com/blog/best-free-public-dns-servers/

We normally do one from Google and one from Level 3.

I think I was wrong about using 2.2.2.2 for Google.  I tried to ping it and it was dead.  Thanks for the suggestions though.
