XTS600 Modem issues
« on: November 26, 2019, 12:20:00 AM »
We have a customer with an XTS600, using the MPBE card.  The internal modem has started answering as a fax rather than a modem.  It doesn't matter if we call it via a real copper line on a 5ESS or one of the DID numbers on their PRI.  A hard reboot of the system will restore the modem to normal operation for just one call, but it reverts to fax after that.  I know that there is no programming for the modem other than baud rate, and there are no hardware settings, so can anyone think of anything else that can be done?

Ed, you're the Vodavi overlord, so I completely defer to you on the Vodavi side of the equation, but simply looking at it from a technical perspective it sounds like a solid state component isn't resetting after the initial call as in a bad card.  If it was an external modem, or a card that was powered by a plug, it would be interesting to interrupt power to the card and not the cabinet to see if it reset the issue.

We had one do that.  And If memory serves me correct we had a Standalone pathfinder connected to via serial connection to the MPBE and you could log into maint and do a modem reset.  I just can't remember what the commands were. I think if you ? and enter the command to type shows up in there.

Atleast I think I remember this happening!!  LOL
