Looking for specific screws
« on: October 28, 2018, 01:11:26 AM »
I've been encountering a certain kind of screw that Spectrum cable is using that appear to be the best thing since sliced bread.  They are coarse-thread, yellow chromate finish, with a 1/4" washered hex head and combination Phillips/slotted drive.  Talk about a dream come true.  I've been hoping to find some that are 1" X #8 diameter, but I'm not having much luck finding them anywhere.  Any suggestions?

If it's what I'm thinking of, I got them off Amazon.  I use these to mount things like ATA's to the wall.  Screws in as far as the washer flat to the wall with the head sticking out just far enough to mount the equipment.  Same principal the truckers use to nail 4x4's to their flat bed to help hold cable reals in place, yet with the actual head sticking out so they can get a crowbar on them later to remove.

Like this only with a combo head, which I hate! The phillips never grabs and the slot is useless.

The only difference with yours is that the threads don't go all the way to the head.

Sort of like the ones used for wall mount jacks?

"Yellow Chrome Finish". I think I picked up some of those a few years ago at a local mom & pop hardware store. They were the best regardless what I used them for but when I went back to get more they were out and they were not able to locate any more of them.  :016: I was using 3 inch screws and I didn't have to wax them like you do drywall screws.

I recently had to remove some of them that have been in the weather for more than two years and they were as clean as the day I used them and the wood was not discolored at all.

I'm still not seeing anything here like what I'm seeking.  I'll have to bring one home and take a picture.  They're hard to describe.

Other than the duel phillips/slotted head that's what you asked for.  :066:

Oh yes he did!  Yes, Don, those are exactly what I was looking for.  Thanks for the information.
