Samsung OfficeServ 7200
« on: May 17, 2018, 06:25:06 PM »
We have a OfficeServ 7200 that is powering down every 24 hours.  If I unplug the system, wait a few second and plug it back in it works again for 24 hours.  We then repeat the same cycle.  Our local tech doesn't seem to have any answers as to what is causing this problem.  This has been occurring when we arrive at work but yesterday evening before I left work I went through the routine of restarting the system.  When I came to work today the system worked fine until the 24 hours were up at the end of the day and the system shut down.  Any ideas???

When the system is down, do you have a version displayed on the phones or is it down hard with no display?

It goes completely down.  Nothing shows on the phones at all.

Agreed.  I can't find anything which will support a failure every 24 hours!

Back in the '70s we had a Siemen's switch (at a high end office!) many years ago that would reboot every afternoon at 3 PM. It drove us nuts.

In the end we put a Deltec line conditioner on the AC line before the power supply and the problem went away. Then we plugged a Dranetz meter into the AC line, before the Deltec and we found the problem.

At 3 PM the Air Handlers in the building (A 57 story mixed commercial and condominium Eat 57th Street in Manhattan) kicked on. For a few milli seconds we showed 400+Volts on the 120 volt line. That was enough to reboot a system without batteries or a UPS to filter out the glitches.

Do you know what the building's power looks like? Is the system on a UPS? If you have a good distal meter that will show the peak voltage on a circuit then you won't need a Dranetz.

I know this is old, but has anyone checked the fans?  That will bring an OS7xxx to a halt in 24 hours.

Very good point, I didn't think about that but you are spot on.   :054:

It sounds like it may be the cooling fan. I see the same issue on the 7100. the fan goes out and then the system will get hot and shut down until it cools and will reboot. takes about 24 hours until the system gets hot again. you can get the fan for about $30.00
