OfficeServ 7400 Alarm Calling External User
« on: April 24, 2018, 12:41:27 PM »
We have an OfficeServ 7400 that seems to be calling an external user (one of our executives) every first on the month, around 3 AM in the morning. It will call him 5 times in a row. The calls do not say anything, but it shows it is from our office location. When I checked the Alarm History in 6.1.1 I do show the following alarms that coincide with the calls that he is receiving:

ID         Date             Time          Alarm Name          Position
MJE12   04/01/2018   03:00:51   SVMi Down            C1-S11
MJE12   04/01/2018   03:01:18   SVMi Down            C1-S11
MJE10   04/01/2018   03:02:24   SVMi Restart          C1-S11
MJE33   04/01/2018   03:02:24   SVMi Request         C1-S11
MJE35   04/01/2018   03:02:24   SVMi Request End  C1-S11

So I have been trying to find the place that is generating the call, or something, to stop it, and I have not been successful. I have checked 5.15.8 for the Alarm Reminder. Checked 6.3.9 for the Alarm Buffer Control. 5.14.7 for the Alarm options, and did not see the trigger there. When I checked the position in our boxes, it does not seem to be one that we are using or a number that we use. I also checked the call forwarding in 5.15.6 and did not see anything there. Checked the DID for any external forwards, did not see anything, and checked for any ring groups that might for some reason be tied to the executives cell number that it is calling, and nothing. I have also looked in the SVMi Options in 2.1.6  and 2.23 and did not see much in there that would help with this. Finally I dialed in as the voicemail admin into his voice mail box, and did not have any settings that I could see that would trigger this. Does anyone have any idea what else I can check, or what would cause this type of call?

Calls made at the first of the month at 3AM will be from the SVMI. Not knowing what is in the mailbox or what settings are turned on, my best advice would be to delete and make him a new mailbox.  If you restart the SVMI during the day will it send an alarm to extension 201?  If not, what extention does it sent the alarm too?

Thank you CMDL_GUY. I went into the users voice mail box and turned off everything that I could find. The first of the month is just around the corner so hopefully that works.  I did try to log into the system via the HyperTerminal, but I could not get it to connect. I inherited this system, so I do not have a lot of information on it. Just been slowly gathering it over the past 2 years when I need it. Thank you again.

If it should occur again, they will be a message such as; "enter your password".  Try to get the message given by the voicemail in order to determine the problem.  Make sure this voice mailbox is set to light the message waiting light and not set for external notification.

It happened again, but he did not answer because it was again at 3 am. So I have deleted, and reactivated the voicemail box. Hopefully that works for us now.

As stated in my first post, you need to find to find out what station is set to receive voicemail alarms in order to eliminate that possibility. Restarting the voicemail will send a message to the display and ring the phone which is set to receive alarms.

Ok I will do that today at COB. The instructions I have, since I cannot get into it via the hyperterminal, is to call in as a system admin, press 4, enter in the password, and that should reboot it. Is that correct?

It should but when I tried that on a small SVMi4E  it did take the voicemail off line but it did not seem to reboot it. YMMV

Yes it does that on every system I've tried it on.

I don't think its a voicemail alarm. It sounds like its a remote notification, the system is rebooting for maintenance at 3am and when it comes back up it is notifying everyone with the message notification turned on, that they have messages in their mailbox. just turn off remote notification, or tell him to delete is new messages.

This is a 5 year old thread, I expect that there won't be a response from the op
