TVA200 disconnecting random mailboxes
« on: January 08, 2018, 01:54:41 PM »
My TVA200 hard drive died a couple of weeks ago. I got a drive (properly formatted and such), installed it, initialized system, recovered programming and mailboxes (not announcements or messages) from a backup. Everything was working well last week. Over the weekend/this am, some mailboxes when the pick up, or are accessed by the subscriber just pick up and say "Thank you for calling" then disconnect. All settings are the same for mailboxes that work.

Any thoughts on what is happening?

Thanks,
Travis

Hard to say. It sounds like they are set not to receive messages.
Maybe the system got hacked but your not reporting any other problems.
I would just delete those mailboxes and rebuild them.

Well....thats a problem as well. When I try to delete the mailboxes, I hit apply, then it says "Cannot write Mailbox Settings". I've restarted the 200 with no change. Also, whenever I try to delete a mailbox, it puts all the VM ports offline. Funny part, even with the ports offline, I can log in to working mailboxes. The only thing that doesn't work is auto attendants.

Thanks again,
Travis

Try it manually through the Admins mailbox.
You will need the laptop disconnected completely.

I have done that as well. it gets through the prompts, says please wait, then a few seconds later says "Thank You for calling" and disconnects.

Is there a way to see whats happening in a mailbox with the command prompt, as in have the command prompt echo the entries or commands given to the mailbox as I try to log in?

So you can get in through 999 and it accepts the pass word?
Also did you default the system 2 or 3 times before loading the back up?
Are all the dip switches to off or "0" now?
I've never had a drive go out on a 50 or a 200. This all seems to be pointing to the drive replacement.
Sounds like your going to have to default the system and rebuild it from scratch without the backup.

Yes, 999 mailbox works, accepts the password, lets me go through menus to the delete mailbox option, lets me enter the mbox number then disconnects when it tries to delete.
I only initialized the system once before restoring. I wasn't aware I should do it more than once.
All switches are on 0
Both the original drive and replacement are from 2006, thats nearing normal drive failure time as far as a PC Spinning disk....
I'm going to try to get a 2nd drive as I have a 2nd 200 here as well, this way I can rebuild from scratch and take my time.

Thanks again for all of your help.

were you connected directly to the TVA with a laptop the 1 st time or remotely?
Just curious what happens if you disconnect the ports from the phone system and connect dirrectly
to the TVA with a laptop through the USB.

The first time, was via USB. I get the same results if I connect via USB or Ethernet when I try to delete the mailboxes. I have not tried turning off the ports first, how ever after they automatically shut off after the first attempt, I've tried a 2nd and 3rd time with no success.
