DS5021-D Status Indicator
« on: November 10, 2017, 09:20:05 AM »
Equipment:
Cab 1: OS7400 (V4.92)
Cab 2: OS7200
VM: SVMi-20E
Phones: DS5021D

Recently, on some of the phones, the status indicator light on top of the display quit lighting up. I've tried swapping phones but the issue stays the same.

No light when a voicemail is present.
No light when the phone is off-hook.

Several months ago, I had an issue with the status indicator staying lit at all times. My tech guy told me that it would be reset during nightly maintenance.

Is this the same thing or is there a setting I need to check/change?

Thanks!

Your equipment list;

Equipment:
Cab 1: OS7400 (V4.92)
Cab 2: OS7200
VM: SVMi-20E
Phones: DS5021D

Do you have 2 seperate telephone systems networked together?  Do you mean the OS7400 has an expansion cabinet?

There is only one cabinet for OS7200s, OS7200, and OS7400.  There are five different processor cards which make up the systems;  It is the processor card installed which determines what you have

MP20s  = OS7200s
MP20   = OS7200 main
LP20    = OS7200 exp.
MP40   = OS7400 Main
LP40    = OS7400 exp.

If you have 2 seperate systems networked, the lack of message waiting lights might be due to one system having automatically building mail boxes for extensions in the other system.  To correct this, your installing company should review the network programming and make required changes.   The light not on while off hook is something different.  Since it is on some phones, I would check to see if they are all in the same cabinet or same card.  Again this is something your installing company should be on sight to help you with.  I can only shotgun it without seeing the system myself.

Yes, the OS7200 is patched to the OS7400 as an expansion cabinet. There are 3 cables running from the MP40 in OS7400 to the LCP in OS7200. Sorry, I should've been more clear.

The extensions are both on cabinet 1, the OS7400.

My tech guy is unsure what is going on. He also does not know how to hook up door phones or "buzzing people in" at this time, though he says he knows the system is capable. And he says he's retiring soon. :(

My bad. They both are in the 2nd cabinet, OS7200.

Swapped cables at boxes. Moved a phone where the status indicator wasn't working from Cab 2, Slot 2, Channel 14 to Cab 1, Slot 10, Channel 10. The light works appropriately. Then, I did an MMC 315 and swapped the extensions so the person got their appropriate extension back. Still working properly.

So, do you think I have a bad 16DLI2 card or could having the 16DLI2 in the extension cabinet (OS7200) be causing trouble?

Update: Tech guy came out and helped me diagnose the issue. I wasn't even paying attention to other lights on the phones. The 16DLI2 is bad. It wasn't lighting up any lights on the phone on some ports. He said more ports could go bad soon, sporadically. Card is under warranty. Just waiting for a new one to come in.

I'm glad to see your tech came out to help, I really wasn't about to have you power down and remove cards, (too much liability in not getting the system back up).  If it's under warranty, the system should be new enough for most cards to be hot swappable.  I can believe anyone selling a system that large not having such a common card in stock!

Samsung no longer makes the door phone which interfaced with a digital station port.  You need to get a 3rd party door phone which will connect to a C.O. line port.  You also need to get a Samsung C.O. line card in order to connect it.  A door phone is one thing, "buzzing in" is another,  I don't do door latchs either.

Phone lights are still an issue. The technician came out last week and installed a new 16DLI2 card (Cab2, S2). Phone lights aren't working on some channels on (Cab2, S2) and (Cab2, S3). Technician is contacting Samsung regarding this issue.

A new issue came up yesterday as well and the technician is contacting Samsung regarding it as well. Some extensions on any 16DLI2 card in any cabinet starts doing a triple beep that can be heard on both sides of the conversation, both outbound/inbound calls and intercom. Unplugging the phone and basically rebooting it clears this issue. Has happened 4 times so far on random extensions. No alarms, errors, or anything on those extensions.

Save the database then default the system and see how it does in default.  If it works fine you need to reprogramm the whole system.  If it's still bad you haven't lost programming.

You might want to check the firmware version on the DLI cards, how old are they?  There was new software written for the DLI cards when they were trying to figure out the speakerphone and DSS/BLF keys on phones not working/not updating.
