Topic: Programming a Panasonic KX-TD7895 to the KSU

I have a Panasonic digital hybrid telephone system which utilizes a KSU.   In addition to the desktop phones, we have three cordless phones, all KX-TD7895.   Over the 17 years that I have phone system, all three cordless phones have broken.   Two weeks ago I purchased an "almost new" replacement cordless phone of the same model.   The phone came with a matching base station. Both the phone and the base station have matching numbers. I have 3 telephone lines on the system.

While the phone looks like it's working when you attempt to make a call it does not connect to the system i.e. there is no dial tone. I believe it needs to be programmed to the KSU. I'm thinking it might need to be programmed via the handset by hitting a certain combination of keys but I do not know. I have the manual and I do not see any instructions in this regard. When you call Panasonic, they give you absolutely zero information.   

Can someone please advise me how I program this cordless handset to the KSU?

Wayne is our Panasonic guru, and it looks like he logged out when he left the office yesterday.  Not many of the techs are here on the weekend, but I'll shoot him a PM for you and maybe he'll check in.

Don't know how much I remember about those either. LOL
There is a switch on the base, is it set for phone or emss?
Also can you call another station when you get the dialtone?
If you dial 9 do you get an outside dialtone?
I believe there is a locate button on the base but I don't remember. If so press it and make sure
it rings the handset.
Also make sure you have a 2 pair line cord from the base to the jack.

I think it has to be a programming issue - program the new cordless to the KSU.  I just need to learn what to do.

Sorry to inform you that you purchased junk. You've used these phones for over 16 years so there is nothing we can tell you about how to use them. If the base is in EMSS mode- meaning it will be used with a KSU it should work. Plug and play. There is no KSU programming, especially since it replaces one that had been there.

I would see if I could return it for a refund.

The last question from Wayne is the key. EMSS run on the second pair or/w or bk/yl.

They are treated as an anolog key set. both pairs on emss.
16 years or not, things change, things break, but I won't argue.
Which system is this on?
16 years old, I suspect a TD 816 or 1232. Maybe a TA624.
Anything but the TD1232 you can plug it directly into a mod jack off the switch.
I would try that.
