Topic: Boss /Secretary Share MB MICS 4.1/ Flash

Mics 4.1 with Flash VM . Customer says the way it used to work , call came to Boss’s ext via DID , rang twice then forward to Secretary ext ring four times then go to secretary mailbox and leave a message . They said it worked that way for years then they had someone in to try to set up the same thing on another extension. Now it no longer works

I have DID to boss Extension, ring twice, forward to secretary, ring 4 times, forward to VM . It works but then the call goes to Boss mailbox.   It would be ok (secretary doesn’t need her own MB ) if it did that but secretary had notification of messages. 
Any suggestion on how I can accomplish this ?

Skip... I don't know Nortel at all, but do you have Virtual Extensions?  If so, you could accomplish this by directing the call to the virtual, put an Immediate Call Cover on the boss, a Delayed Call Cover on the Secretary.  Message is left in the virtual mailbox, access it via a key on the secretary's phone, and set up notification to her.  I'm sure it's not as elegant as it was, but it might work in a pinch.

Skip:  I do not remember if Flash has ability to msg notify to a second ext.  Look for that.  I know the Call Pilot does.
But that would not work anyway if she has her own mailbox.

What I would do is have that DID Appear & Ring on both phones.  ( I would think the secretary would not mind and she can see it is for him because that button would be flashing) And that also gives her the option to answer the Boss's line or let it go to VM.
Now if the boss still wants his own mail box go to A)  if he doesn't go to B)

A)  Both ext Fwd to VM:  -   after 6 rings for the boss and 4 rings for the secretary.  Then she would get all the messages and she can forward any important ones back to his mail box.

B)  Prog the Boss for Fwd to VM: NONE.  Prog secretary Fwd to VM: x (whatever number she wants)
     She will get all the messages and verbally or email important ones to the Boss.

I couldn't find the second extension option anywhere Jim that was my first thought   , I'm going  log in with laptop when  I go back and see if I can see  anything that way

they are insisting that it rang boss twice , then secretary 4 times then VM  and secretary had notification on the phone .  I like your suggestion's but suspect they don't want the bosses phone ringing more than twice if hes with a client . I can suggest DND

How many times have we had a customer insist  the system "used to " do something that it cant do ?

Just something else to try.  Just taking a guess.

Go into the DID.  Set the Prime to Secretary ext even though it rings on Boss first.
Then set up the boss for FNA to Secretary after 2 rings.

After that - I would agree with you.  They "THINK" it used to work that way.

MICS/CICS is designed that DNs fwded to another DN voice mails will be deposited in the originating DN's mailbox. The CP can have more than one DN on a mailbox.

Jim's A will work but B will end up in the General Mailbox.

Sorry Marv - I have to disagree with you.

My B plan has it ringing on both phones.  So it should still go to Secretary's VM after x number of rings since her phone would have
FNA after x rings and the boss does not.  You are thinking that the boss is still fwd to the sec. - then you would be correct. But that is
not the plan B I had set up.

Just like having lines ringing on any number of phones, the shortest number to FNA gets the mail box.

You're right Jim I read your B wrong. The Boss will have to be careful about private or sensitive calls.

Their looking for a shared MB Marv , I'm guessing the boss gets private stuff on his cell

I'm going to head back there tomorrow and I'm going to start with "B" and go from there
