The old ITP series phones came with a power supply and all of the new SMT series phones work off the same power supply.

I don't see the issue?

There are two different power supplies for the new phones, I received them with the new demo phones.  The only problem I see is the added cost of the power supplies.

There are two power supplies; one for the SMT i5200 series and one for the SMTi3100 series.

This new direction by Samsung assumes POE will be used in most cases.

I accidently bought 10 of the 5200 series power cubes (even though the 7200 IP kit comes with 5 - 5200 and 5 - 3100 series).  The 5200 power cubes will work on the 3100 series phones; I believe the difference is the 3100 series have a 90 degree connector on the phone end, but if you push the cable just inside the stand, it works fine and is not bent on the 5200 phone.

According to the Tech Bulletin I just received, the SMT series all share the same adapter.

If you look at the ratings on both power units the voltage is a 5VDC but the current differs. There is no numbering on the units that corresponds to the Samsung part number!

If you look at the latest Samsung oder spread sheet it lists on for the 5200's and one for the 3100's

We label the power supplies with a Dymo label maker as soon as they come out of the box.   

My beef with the SMT phones is the keymapping.  Do I have this right?   There is no specific keymapping?  They all use '99 button'.   So that controls the 31xx phone and 52xx phones?   I know you can program up a specific phone map, but talking about system-wide mapping here.  A pain if you have a mix of 52xx and 31xx phones and you want the first five keys to be different.
