Balun or RG59
« on: February 07, 2015, 02:04:23 PM »
Blauns or Cat V/Cat VI, or RG59.  What's your preference and why?

BTW, when I say RG59, I'm referring to real RG59, COPPER Shielded.

Also do you prefer to stay away from Siamese on RG59?  When tearing out other people's work we've seen really bad inductance interference on Siamese, but it wasn't what I call true RG59.  It was that prefab, out of a package crap where the cable is the size of a phone line, not a full weight piece of copper shielded coax.

Thanks for the input.
-I'm only here because my flux capacitor is broken.

No more coax Trace.
For cameras, if I don't do IP then it's Cat5e with baluns.

Couldn't agree more: Read my lips MPT "no more coax"

IP cameras all the way. Only reason we do RG59 is existing analog or hybrid systems. Not worth the pain anymore and the price points are getting better.
