Turning the display on and off on my iDCS 18D
« on: June 11, 2014, 12:11:31 PM »
The display on my handset does not work.  I was told that my predecessor had found a way to turn it off, but I've searched every user guide I can find on this system and have yet to find anything to tell me how to do that or to turn it back on.  I can't use any of the speed dial or other functions that use the display screen, including the clock.  Is there a way to turn the display on and off?  Or is my phone simply malfunctioning?

Please help!   :034:

Hi Karen:

I just thought I'd say hello and welcome to the board.  It doesn't look like Larry is logged on right now, but he is never gone for long.  Hopefully he'll see your post and have an answer for you.

 THIS PERTAINS TO THE PHONE
Unplug your phone and with the # key pressed plug the phone back in. Depending on your dexterity you may need a second person. You should see LCD testing displayed. All LCD positions should show a dark block. (if this fails, you may have a defective phone) You can unplug and re-plug the phone if you don't want to cycle through all the tests.  The # key will cycle to the next test which will be the the button LED's. (if it was just a fluke with the phone this may fix it)

THIS PERTAINS TO THE SYSTEM
There is a system feature call "info display" which is not defaulted to active. If it was turned on, a code had to be assigned to it. If that code is unknown then tech level programming can determine if it's on and what the dial code for that feature is.

Oh, you're AWESOME!!!   :064:  Unplugging the phone and plugging it back in with the # key pressed fixed the problem.  Now I can proceed with setting the name.

THANK YOU!!!!
