Samsung 7100 4TRM Card
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:28:57 PM »
I have been able to setup everything EXCEPT the CO line, it is buggering the whole thing up..

When I try the main line (701) "ALL Trunks Out Of Service" OR "BUSY"

I currently have:
1 7100 /w UNI card /w 4SLM & 4TRM cards
1 IP Phone 3201 (working)
1 iDCS 28D 201 (working) P1 MP10a
1 Analog Phone 205 (working) MD1 - P1
1 CO Line (Not working) MD2-P1

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated ?  :032:

PS: I am using the web interface and/or the 28D..

This unit was pulled by me from a working environment and placed into almost the same environment except only one "1" CO Line.. I tried calling into the CO line but it does not ring through the system.. If I use a test set on the CO line it gives dial tone..

knm398  welcome to myphonetechs.com

The problem you are having is beyond administrator support and requires a certified Samsung Tech.  If all is the same from the last location I will tell you this, I've seen trunks which work fine with a test set not work on a 7100.  I had the same thing happen to a 7100 that I moved from my main office to a remote location. You might find a different line plugged in will work just fine, if so you'll need a Samsung tech to get you straight.  Can you plug it in at the location you removed if from for a test?

If I'm understanding your post correctly, you can draw tone with a test set, (as in you're trying to make an outbound call) but when you try calling INbound it doesn't ring through the system.  I didn't see in your post where you tried taking the system out of the equation on an inbound call.  Have you pulled the bridge clips and the demarc and tried to answer the inbound call with the test set when the system is not attached to the line?

Its possible the trunk port has died on the card.  Does the trunk work in another port on the card - 704 for example?  If so, the trunk port has likely died...

I have used my test set for in and outbound calls with the 7100 disconnected, I have also tried it with the 7100 in the loop and my test set receives and sends calls with no problem..

I have tried the CO line in other ports 702-704, and tried them but to no success..
I have even tried clearing the port on the web interface...
Is there a way to reset the port card? or a inable/disable command for them?

If you had an 8 port trunk card (8TRK)  this wouldn't be an issue.  I've seen this before and it's nothing you will resolve without tech level support.

You can reset the card itself through the GUI, but it sounds to me like the card is dead. What's the loop current and ring voltage on the POTS line? These cards don't handle much variation from normal conditions.

Do you have any other modules on this card?

You will most likely need a Samsung tech to determine if it's the UNI card or the trunk module.

How do you have the line plugged to the system? Are you using a 4 or 6 pin cable or an RJ45?
I've seen the standard 4,6 pin cables used and they don't always work and line up properly.

You're fine, the 8p8c (using center pair) modular is the best. The 6p6c and the 6p4c fit a bit tight.

Try moving the 4TRM to a different module port on the UNI card if there is an empty port (do a backup first so you can undo these tests).  Its 'possible' there is some database corruption, and changing the card to a different port on the UNI could clear a stuck bit or conflicted programming.  You could also try moving the whole UNI card to slot 2.
