Topic: Rectifier XP4890 maintenance (electrical)

Hi all,

I have a question that is burning away like willy-pete in the back of my head; we have the possibility of taking the electrical rectifier equipment at several sites for one of our big customers under maintenance, but I haven't had any time looking in, and have no contacts in, the field of electrical repair and maintenance, other than our local engineers.

If any of you is comfortable servicing or working with us to replace Rectifier XP4890 equipment in the following locations, or knows an electrician-friend who is, please let me know asap!

Alpharetta, GA
Overland Park, KS
Boston, MA
Hunt Valley, MD
St. Louis, MO
Charlotte and McLeansville, NC

I'm looking to compile a list for this location by tomorrow COB, as the customer has just given us this list of locations they'd like under consideration.

I saw your request at TT also.  I looked this up on the Internet and it looks like a very simple unit to replace.  I worked on the large rectifiers when with Bell and only Western Electric replaced them.  

I didn't do a lot of research on what you're requesting, but what little I did, it doesn't look to me like it would take a lot of "special" training to replace these.

I want to add.  If your talking about maintaining the batteries also you're talking major telco back ground in doing this.  Battery maintenance is not for the untrained or faint of heart.

Thanks for the prompt response!  I think all that digging on several forums actually produced a response; Continuant has apparently foresworn touching electrical stuff, I guess that's a field they just don't want to expand into yet, but we're providing contact information to the customer on the two tech networks that seem to cover all those cities.  Not *quite* washing my hands of it, but hoping we take them under contract, because that might be lucrative

Is this an actual Nortel rectifier or one that was added to a big M1 or DMS?

They have a number of different systems, Nortel CS1000, BCM, Avaya Definities and Legends, one Mosaix dialer, a couple of Cisco things...it's a hodgepodge.

Hi,
I realize I am about 11 years late in responding to this topic, but i was called to work on a cell site that was down (out of operati0n) in Washington DC.  It turns out there was water leaking on the DC power rack .  Among other things, 5 of the seven rectifiers in the DC power rack were not working.  They are basically toaster-sized boxes that slide into a rack.
