7400 (8 years old) now with s/w 4.70, PRI, SVMI20e (6 months old), 100+tdm phones. Boot system, runs fine for a day to a week. Customer comes in to "no voicemail". System answers but no audio. It does respond to DTMF so if you know what to press, it works. What we've done:
Rebuilt 7400 database from scratch
Upgraded system software from 4.14k to 4.30i to 4.46d to 4.53c to 460 to 4.70.
Swapped out voicemail with completely new SVMI card
Swapped out cabinet
Rebuilt voicemail
Moved SVMI card to 3 different slots (including swapping with PRI card which doesnt have issues)
Reboot just the svmi and it works for a while.
Odd that it just looses speechpath to voicemail card.
I'm returning tomorrow to swap the cabinet back, and try the LP40
All upgradable cards are on the latest software.

Hey bud,

Give this a try and see if it helps you, it may not depending on if the issue is what I am thinking.  It starts to work for a few days because immediately after a reboot the LANG files setting in System Wide Parameters most likely goes back to the default lang of US Eng.  Check to see if both fields on the LANG tab in SystemWide Param (8.5 in DM) are set to US ENG if either are set to NONE then use the drop dwn arrow to locate the correct lang file.  Save, refresh.

If neither of those fields are set to NONE then what could have occurred is the LANG files themselves may have become corrupt.  If that is the case then on GSBN download a new copy of 4.63 (latest ver avail with LANG files still intact).  Copy the LANG files from the Zipped package of 7400 v.4.63 and save to desktop.  Delete the LANG files from the system and then copy the new ones from your desktop back on it again.

If none of the above helps you at all, give me a call as I may not have fully understood your problem.
Thanks
Samsung Reed

Check on the  LCP and change out the switch card that expands the time slots.  I remember upgrading a system and forgot to put it in.  System came up, but no speech path on the phones.  Everything worked fine, except that.

Yes, STA determined by the PBX error and svmi error logs (and their inability to reproduce the problem in Dallas or Korea) its not a problem with the 7400 PBX, but rather an issue with the SVMI20e card itself. They had me send it in for repair (this would be the second time this card has been in for this same issue).

Its returned from repair a couple days ago. Usually the repair depot does not include what was done to fix the problem, but this time they wrote a 2 word note: "Software problem". They replaced the software on the CF card (instead of the whole card); customer is not happy - they want to keep the loaner CF card which has been rock solid since first week of January and this also means they do not have to re-do their 120+ mailboxes.

What this has done for this customer is primed them for a new phone system - they want new equipment - ready to actually sign a cheque.

Sadly, Samsung has nothing to offer as 'new phones'; customer does not want to spend the money upgrading their network switches or their data cabling/closets. Customer originally bought Falcon iDCS sets, then added the "newer" DS series (my personal opinion is they look like ikea phones design/color wise). So when we talk to them about a new phone system, we get "what? you're selling me the same model phones as I bought 7 years ago? Um no.

Further, I have a number of 50+ user 7000 series systems that are now aging (7200/7400), customer is starting to hint at wanting upgrades.  I've talked to them about the new WeVoIP which I personally really like.  Mostly they need desk phones, and often the middle exec's do not want to be THAT connected.  They love us for the service, but i'm not sure i'll be able to keep them since they don't want the IP sets.

Frankly I can't blame them, they don't want/need the IP phones (some even don't like them - they have had a couple of them to try out as an upgrade option). We'll likely loose them this summer. I know 'the future is IP', but it hasnt happened yet, we still sell A LOT of TDM phone systems. I really believe we're going to loose a number of our customers because of this.  Trying really hard to not make this sound like i'm whining.  I love the samsung product - great software capabilities.  I'm making a big presumption that Samsung only really wants to sell to United Airlines or Hertz rent a car / fortune 500.  Not very many of those around - and they will go all IP because they have the money / actual need for it.  Less than 10% of my customer base will be into that.  I just don't see TDM dying this decade.

HUH.  The story didnt end there.

6 hours after I re-installed the now 1 year old "repaired" SVMI-20e, it failed again with the exact same symptoms - no audio.  So I swapped our in house Out-Of-Warranty SVMI20e back in.  (it had been running 2 months trouble free while their "new" voicemail was sent in for repair.  This will now be the 3rd time it goes in for the same problem...
