ISDN Protocol
« on: October 11, 2013, 08:07:20 AM »
Well, Here is my situation.  I have an ESI 200 system installed at my office.  Lately we have been plagued with a couple of problems.  First, intermittently when folks are trying to call out they will get busy signals on a particular channel of the PRI.  It's not always the same channel.  Last week it was channel 20 and this week it was channel 19.  Next, some folks making outbund calls will get a message that the call was rejected by the carrier.  I have contacted my PRI vendor and they have performed diagnostics and the only thing they can find is a message from the router saying that it is recieving an unknown ISDN protocol from the ESI 200.  So, my question is: Does anyone know what ISDN protocol the ESI 200 uses to communicate with the PRI?  I have looked through all of my documentation and I can't find any reference to this.  It would be very helpful if I could pass this information on to my vendor so we can continue to troubleshoot thiese issues.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

When you say "lately" I am concerned. Your system has been in place since at least July, 2010 so when did these problems begin?

I did a quick search of my CS200 manual using ISDN . If this were a new install my first check point would be to verify the proper switch selection within system programming but I doubt that to get us anywhere.

If you have access to Mailbox 598 check it for PRI/T1 Alarms. The router message might be valid but nothing like a communication from the source.
