Avaya announces EOS - End of Sale for Norstar

Avaya will support the Norstar products for a total of six (6) years after the effective EoS date of October 4, 2010
The Avaya support policy of three (3) years of Manufacturer Support beyond the effective End of Sale date applies to all Norstar products for both hardware and software (after the October 4, 2010 End of Sale date).
Avaya is providing two (2) additional years of Manufacturer's Support on Norstar software compared to the one (1) year of Manufacturer Support on software that is normally provided by Avaya's standard support policy.
Avaya will also provide and an additional three (3) years of Extended Services Support after the Manufacturer's Support period for both hardware and software, bringing the total length of support to six (6) years after the effective EoS date.

Dates in a nutshell:
End of Sale Announcement May 5, 2010
End of Sale (last orders subject to availability) October 4, 2010
Minimum Period of Manufacturer's Support Availability after End-of-Sale October 4, 2013
Availability of upgrades, expansions, terminals, line cards, modules, and authorization codes October 4, 2013
Minimum Period of Extended Services Support Availability after Manufacturer's Support period October 4, 2016

A lot of the equipment in service will go for another 15 - 25 years.  I still have customers with PANTHER and TRILLIUM systems.  That stuff was EOL back in what, 1982?

In today's economy who knows what will happen by 2016. Avaya could be bought by someone else and extend the life. Norstar is a workhouse and parts will be around for quite a while.
