Mitel 5000
« on: March 13, 2012, 04:48:06 PM »
I am going to talk to a company about their Mitel 5000.

The guy wants to record incoming calls. I see based on the feature sheet that there is a "record-a-call" which I am assuming is controlled by the user. So my first question, is there a way to record ALL incoming calls automatically? I know this can be tricky on an Iwatsu system.

Also, if there is a way to record all incoming calls, what is the capacity of the vm? I would hate to have him recording all of these calls and then run out of vm space in a few weeks.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm not to sure about incoming calls on the Mitel but I'm sure Harry will know. The big problem with incoming calls on any system is the voicemail answering and/or transferring. Third party software seems to work better for most applications. What is the customer wanting to track?  One problem I had with a customer was tracking abandoned calls. The definition on an abandoned call is one which is aborted during the ringing cycle.  When the call is immediately answered by voicemail and the caller hangs up during the greeting, the call is considered an answered call.  This is going to be tricky no matter what system/software you use. Find out what the customers expectations are also.

Thanks Larry, I am going to talk to him about having the user initiate the record function, or give him the option of a third party device.

I'm sure he will figure out a way to get them to press the button once we start talking about pricing.

I just realized you want to voice record the calls.
