LaneComm,
Sorry I didn't get back much sooner on this but I've been out of the loop for a while.
This list assumes you're doing the backup by a local connection to the serial maintenance port. Make appropriate adjustments if you're attempting to do it by modem.
- Set your terminal emulator for 9600, N,8,1 as VT100
- Connect to the serial maintenance port of the controller bay of the EL
- Hit <Enter> a few times to get the opening screen
- Select your terminal type, Select Maintenance, and password into the system
- Select <SYSTEM>, <DATABASE>, <BACKUP>, and <ENTER>
- Enter a filename when prompted, hit <ENTER> and <CONFIRM>
- You're prompted to exit to a local Kermit session. Within your terminal program, be sure the Kermit session is set to binary mode and start the file download
- After the download is complete, the Maintenance screen returns with a "Download/Upload Successful" message
- If you're done, be sure to navigate completely back out of the session before disconnecting, otherwise the session may hang and block you from logging back into the system until it times out
Hope this is in time to help for at least help in the future.
Harry
