This probably isn't a genuine antique question, but I figured this was the best place to ask the question.

I need to create an authentic looking number card to go in an old Jim Rockford 2500 style black desk phone.  I don't know anyone that has the device the phone company used to create the cards, but I figured some of you guys would probably have a source or a computer font that reproduced the look and spacing.

Trace- I found this link from the post Skip made in the other thread. If you haven't found any yet you may give the guys a try.

EDIT: Oops. Just noticed it's a TT set, not a rotary. They still may know of another source for you.

I'm with Dave, I'm feeling really old.

Bell used to have the Installers handwrite the labels. There was also a Stamping machine that you adjusted one number at a time (kind of like the things they used to use in Supermarkets to label the cans - only fancier).

The font was a Sans Serif - kind of like Helvetica Bold, as I recall.

Usually it was also a bit smudgy, and misaligned. I don't know if there's a font for that though.... :011:

Anybody remember the IBM Selectric - had an "Orator" typeball With Caps and Small Caps - Caps and Numbers were oversize and small cap (lowercase) were roughly normal sized. Made a real nice and easily read EXT 123 or number label.

I realize it's hard to think of those phones as being that old.  It's kind of like who would have ever thought the day would come that an AMC Pacer would classify as a classic automobile?  :011:
