SIP Trunks no MOH
« on: November 02, 2010, 05:46:16 PM »
Have a cust with a 7030, v 4.46d, 10 IP phones, 4 sip trunks. Problem is when a call is placed on hold, there is dead air. Samsung told me to call CommPartners (SIP Provider) and ask them to ignore the REINVITE SEND ONLY. This REINVITE gets sent to the provider when the samsung switches from an MPS channel (SIP Trunk to IP Phone) to an MGI Channel (MOH, Hold, etc..). The only problem is that the provider doesnt know what I am talking about. Was wondering if any of you out there have experienced this. Also curiuos if I can disable the HOLD REINVITE in the SIP options. Will this take care of this.

Also as a note: I can hookup a remote IP phone at my office from the cust switch. I can hit hold and hear the BGM. This just happens on the trunks.

Just an update with this after talking with Samsung and the SIP Provider. Samsung says that they are sending the correct protocol to the provider. Samsung needs the provider to ignore the HOLD REINVITE and keep the Speech path open. This only happens with MPS Channels, MGI Channels work fine. The provider is telling me that they cannot make this change without doing it across the board to all customers (I dont buy that), but that is what the provider tells me. Has anyone else out there had problems with MPS channels, SIP Trunks and MOH. Thanks.
