Call Park / Call Button Problem - I think
« on: October 07, 2010, 12:38:36 PM »
Hey guys, just ran into what i think is a bit of an issue. Customer has a 7100 with 4.46d. The recept has 3 call buttons and a park button. When a call comes in, lands on call 1 - recept hits park * (call goes into orbit 0). Now here is the problem (in my opinion) - the call key continues to flash at the recept phone while the call is parked. I would think that since the call gets parked it would sit out there in the park zone and free up the call button. If it does not - then what use is a call button (versus direct appearing lines) if you have to put 10 of them on the phone. So my problem at this site is that the recept can park 3 calls - then cannot receive another call until someone picks up the parked call.

****As a side note:  Just found out that on a iDCS 28D you can put several call keys onto buttons 31 thru 44 (without aom attached) and they work just fine. I didnt know if anyone else knew that or not.

The call only stays on the CALL key while the call is active at her extension. As soon as the call is picked up at another extension, it disappears from her extension.

The bad thing about using the additional keys for CALL keys is they won't actually appear on her phone. If she accidently places the call on hold, she won't be able to go back and get it without knowing the exact trunk it is on.

To me Marc, that doesn't seem to make much sense.  If I place a call into a park zone it should go into the park zone and wait there for someone to pick it up.What I did notice though, if I park a call into a park zone and I have that park zone as a button on the phone, then the call key goes out. What is the difference between having call keys or direct appearing lines if they do the same thing (in terms of inbound calling). To me it just seems like the system is duplicating resources. Why cant the call just sit in a park zone without being active on the phone. Customers dont like to put 10 park buttons on their phones or 10 dt's, so we always use 2 or 3 call keys to help simplify call control. Sorry - kinda disappointed in that, so i guess i am kinda venting.

I use individual park keys. Park 1, Park 2 etc. That way when you park the call it goes to the park key. You do have to use more keys to make this happen though. But it is more user friendly and much cleaner.
