4.51 Software and 7400 Smart Media
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:20:50 PM »
Be careful I just attempted to run the newly released 4.51 software on my 7400 MP 40 processor with the older smart media type card with no success (the new SD type works fine). Samsung has verified the failure in the lab and is working on a fix. You can simply revert to 4.46d without issue if needed.

Thanks for the info Doug!

Wouldn't you want to just purchase a new 1gb SD card from Samsung then as part of the upgrade process?   There isn't a 7400 MP40 that won't handle the newer SD card is there?

We have a v4.14k 7400 that is way overdue for an upgrade.

Tech support has told us to always upgrade to v4.30 FIRST, then continue on, because 4.30 contains some conversion utilities and functions that 4.42/4.46/4.51 does not have.

I don't think I've seen that mentioned on the forums.

A SD card wont work in this situation. Samsung just came out as saying that 4.46D will be the last version for the Smart Media 7400 and for the 7200 MCP's and 7100 MP10's. Save in bug fixes to 4.46D. Maybe we will see a 4.46E for these.

So regardless of the memory card, 4.46d is as far as we'd want to take that 7400 v4.14k?

We just purchased two 7400s for new installs and they came with 4.51 loaded.  Should we expect trouble if we don't drop back to 4.46d?

So far all is well with our networked 7400/7200exp to 7200 v4.51 networked install this weekend.

One little bug is MMC 722.  You can't change individual station buttons via IT tool.  Timeouts and says 'Request error cannot download data'.   So we have to do any specific station button mappings from the keyset MMC login.
