SV9100 Paging to IP Phones
« on: May 02, 2022, 03:43:47 PM »
I'm looking for a work-around.  I know that NEC states a hard limit of multicast paging to only 50 units at a time, but does anyone know if there is a way to cheat the system?  (Overhead paging needs to be left out of the picture in this scenario.)

For anyone reading this in the future, I found the Valcom VE6023.

It's pricey, but it integrates with NEC and it does what we need.
Broadcasting announcements to NEC™ IP Telephones  is simple with Valcom’s innovative NEC enabled Telephone Paging Appliance.

Valcom always made a quality product. I've always found that if they say it works - it works.

Is there anything stopping you from going with it? Is the price astronomical?

The server itself is right around five digits, then there's licensing on top of that.  It's not recurring, but you have to buy blocks of 100, 250, etc. As an unexpected add-on to a new phone system install, it did make them blink.  I should know next week if they'll go with the Valcom IP or restructure their overhead speakers at the same time and the phone install and stick with traditional PA.

Gotta love IP and the licensing.

It used to be that you bought something and you owned it.
