Vodavi 5000-00 AA
« on: April 29, 2022, 08:23:47 PM »
Next week I need to re-record the Auto Attendant on a Vodavi 5000-00 phone system.
I know nothing about this system.
Can someone give me some guideline tips on how to do this - maybe step by step instructions?

The AA will already be programmed.  Just re-recording the prompts.
Basically like this:
Thank you for calling ABC if you want Sales press 1 for Service press 2.
Then I need to go to each of those prompts and record:
For Sales Joe press 1 Scott press 2.
AND for the next prompt:
For Service John press 1 for Charles press 2.

Any tips on how to get to each of the 3 recordings, how to start the recording, and
how to stop the recording, and how to save the recording,  that would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Jim

We will need to know which voice mail system they're using.  The 5000 is compatible with virtually any voice mail system using in-band signaling, or of course, Vodavi's proprietary Talkpath or Dispatch digital platforms.

That makes it more impossible.
I won't know until I get onsite.
Oh well. Go with the Flow and see what happens.

Thanks.

Jim;

If you can give me a date and time when you'll be on-site, I'd be happy to do what I can to help you over the phone.  My contact information is in my signature.  We can't leave each other hanging.  It's just that saying "Vodavi" really complicates things since they have made literally dozens of systems over the years.  To further complicate matters, they are now represented by the name 'Vertical' and they have since introduced an entirely different line of systems in the 5XXX range.  It's sort of like asking for help with a Chevy.  Help me help you.  I'm here.  Just let me know.  If you'd like to call me ahead of time, I'd be happy to give you pointers on what to look for upon arrival so that we can maybe be a step ahead of the game.

Ed:

Thanks.  I appreciate that.  It will be sometime next week.
I have been so busy, I have not scheduled this one as yet.
And by the way, Ken Heiser says HI and I should work with you on this Vodavi.
Do you have any days that would be better next week?
It would be between 10:30 - noon approx. when I get there.

Jim

Mondays and Thursdays are usually not good for me.  Friday is best.

I was thinking of next Tuesday.
I know it is not Friday which was good.
And it is not Mon or Thurs which was bad.

Not for sure, but probably Tuesday, May 10th, sometime after 10am.

Jim, it was my pleasure to assist you.  That's what we all do for each other, right?  We knocked it out in what, 25 minutes or so?  It really helps when the person on the phone has some prior knowledge to working on systems, such as yourself.

Incidentally, you have either a Talkpath or Dispatch voice mail/auto attendant system there.  I'm not sure if it's digital or analog (both versions were available), but they generally function the same.  The analog versions offer more flexibility since they'll interface with any phone system that can use in-band signaling.
