E-Mailing large files
« on: November 18, 2021, 03:50:44 AM »
As you all know, I'm a phone man, not a CG, so bear with me.  I needed to send a large program file to a coworker who was in the field.  I tried to send it from my Outlook account to his and it got rejected due to size.  It was 41Mb, even zipped.  He suggested that I use a pretty cool utility that allows file sizes up to 2 Gig using their free version, or they have a paid version that lets you send much more.

You enter your e-mail address and theirs, then attach the file to their form.  It sends them a link that is marked as from you which allows them to download it without issues.

The service is www.WeTransfer.com . I'm sure that many of you are already aware of these types of services.  I am posting this for maybe that occasional person like me who may come here seeking help.

Sounds nice but now they have your email and your buddy's email and they know someone is breathing at both ends. Now they sell your address and even some personal information found in your file to advertisers, fraudsters and a few governments and you are flooded with emails and even junk phone calls.  Big Brother is watching.

The same applies if you use gmail, yahoo mail or any other free email.

We all use these free services but that is what happens.

I use the free version of Dropbox.  Still not secure, but it's super easy.

Same here, just last week I received the final versions of all Samsung software with now problems.
