WTB: Link cable for Vodavi/Vertical XTS-600 system
« on: April 03, 2020, 04:52:52 AM »
Looking to purchase the link cable for the XTS-600 system made by Vertical (Vodavi) Communications.  This gray cable is approximately 8 feet long and has 'Amphenol' type connectors on each end.  Although this cable appears to be a simple male/male 25 pair cable, it is not.  It is 32 pairs, and the connectors are 64 pins.  The cable is silver/gray in color with black plastic connector covers.  One end connects to the MPB-E card in cabinet #0 and the other end connects to the LMU-E card in cabinet #3.  This cable was sold in a kit that included the LMU-E card, Vodavi part number 3035-06, and we would be willing to purchase the card too if you have both available for sale.

It sure is expensive.
Anyway, it may be worth a try.

Ed -

When I worked Carrier we used to have to make 32 pair amphenoled cable for the T-3 muxes (28 T-1s). The machines looked exactly the same as the 25 pair ones, just a skoch bigger. Same withe amphenols.

If the cable is REALLY expensive you might be able to borrow or rent a machine and make your own.

Sandman advertises 32 pair cables on their site.
We can custom make 32 (64 Pin), 50 and 100 Pair
Connectorized CAT3 Cables, which have multiple
male or female connectors (fingers):

Since I have no idea how the connectors are wired, I think I'll forego making one or having it made.  I've submitted a price quote request and will hope that they really have the full card/cable kit.  Thanks for the ideas.

I had someone get a picture of the actual connector on one of these cards.  I believe they are the same on both ends.  He said it looks like a regular SCSI connector.  If that's the case, SCSI cables are a dime a dozen and my problem might be solved.  What do you think about this connector?

It looks like a SCSI-3 cable. But it's been a while since I've seen one. I used to use a bunch of external SCSI devices but they were all 1s and 2s.
