I'm familiar with the name, but I don't go near Austin unless I have to go to one of the State licensing agencies or the Capital.  Other than some music there isn't much down ther other than leftover hippies from the 60s, politicians, and Dellionaires.  That's closer to Dave's territory.  Good BBQ?  I bet he knows them.  :066:

I've eaten at the New Braunfels location. Pretty good Texas style BBQ. Down here there are BBQ joints every couple of miles in some areas. 3 others just down the road from Coopers. If you want really good BBQ Franklin BBQ in Austin is in the top 3 in the state if not number one. Lockhart is the big BBQ locale down here. I have done the big 4 in Lockhart- Kruez Market, Blacks BBQ, Smitty's, and Chisholm Trail all in one weekend. BBQ and Shiner Bock pub crawl. If you only get one choice it would be Franklin. Better bring a lawn chair- the wait is long when they start serving.

For the backyard BBQ grill masters Aaron Franklin has a Youtube video showing how he does his. I have done several briskets following this recipe and you can cut the brisket with a plastic fork. A bottle of Maker's Mark and a 12 hour over night smoking session on a Friday night is the best therapy I have found.

When this is all over, maybe we should do a BBQ crawl in Texas.

That would be a drunken, but awesome idea.   :008:

If I can get there, I am invited?   :064:

We'll have to wait until Corona dies down.  Our governor has enacted a quarantine on anyone flying in from NY.

"Hold my beer.  Y'all watch this."  Coincidently that's the most commonly heard phrase on 4X4 black boxes too.
