Have any of you worked with Nitro Pro for PDF creation?
« on: September 25, 2019, 12:51:53 PM »
**Well that sucked.  I had this entire post created, but it didn't like the attachment so it threw away all the text, too.   :016:

I've been working with this software for about two months, so I'm still learning about it.  When we purchased the Pro version, we did not get the support upgrade, so I have to post issues on their forums.  These guys are giving me a MASSIVE headache.   :031:

I posted this issue over a week ago on their forums and it JUST received a response - which didn't help.

https://community.gonitro.com/topic/6332-form-created-in-nitro-not-displaying-properly-an-acrobat/?tab=comments#comment-17536

Software has been upgraded and exported per request, but no go.  I've create a 16 page PDF with many fillable form fields.  It renders properly in Nitro Pro, but when opened in Adobe (as most people will do), a good portion of the fields are just... gone.  I don't know if it's a file size limitation - but wouldn't they say that?

Google doesn't even know - or at the very least, he's not talking.

Anyone ever seen this?

[Still won't allow the attachment.  Here it is:

I've never used it, Sorry.
I have created PDF's with Office and haven't had any problems but I don't think I've ever tried to create a form that can be edited.

Renders fine in Firefox. Am I supposed to be able to fill in fields? Because that doesn't work, but that could be because of Firefox. In the past I've always used Adobe instead of some imitation. Costs more but you get what you pay for.

It is supposed to be all fillable fields and drop down options.  So far it only works properly in Nitro, though.  I have shorter docs that work fine.  I suppose I'll have to try breaking it into smaller pieces.   :061:  It would be nice if they told you that.

Adobe was too pricey for the PTB.   :023:

Gee, how did I know that...

I have Adobe on another machine, I'll try it there and see if that makes any difference. The Firefox support for PDFs is just a basic reader that barely gets the job done.

I was unable to edit it in either Safari or Chrome.

Sorry....

Well I'm going to add confusion.

I downloaded the file, opened it in chrome and was able to fill in the form.
Also opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and was able to edit.

If you scroll down a few pages, are there missing fields?  They usually start to show up around page 5.

With Adobe reader, yes. Random fields missing starting with IP Phone Information. With older Adobe random fields missing all over starting with first page.

I ran out of time today to test breaking it into smaller files, but I'll test it on Monday.  I appreciate everyone giving it a shot for me.

Breaking it up smaller didn't work.   :031:

I'll let you know if I ever find a solution.

How about we all send bills to your "PTB" for field testing and you for the time you are wasting. They can buy genuine Adobe for a lot less.  :007:

Well... I figured it out, but the solution is TEDIOUS.  The field identities/properties changed - often - when a field was copied and pasted.  It lost half of its unseen attributes.  That means opening up each field to see if it was corrupted, then deleting and rebuilding it.   :035:
