We have nothing but wells in my rural community.  We are all very carefull with everything we put on the ground when it comes to weed control and fertilizer, especially quantity and frequency.

The calcium chloride looks to be an easy option.  Initially it looks like I was searching for the wrong term.  Weed killers get you things like RoundUp.  Soil Sterilization gets you the type of things Mark is using which perhaps wouldn't cause the rust/corosion, etc. that Hal referenced.
