600 OHM 1:1 Transformers ?
« on: July 28, 2018, 02:04:30 AM »
It has been a long time since I've needed a 600 OHM 1:1 transformer that I used to purchase from R-Shack but since they have closed the store in my town I had to purchase one from another supplier at a higher cost than I used to pay for them and I would like to know if there is a supplier that offers them at a lesser price these days. I ordered one for around $30.00 today and I'm thinking that was a little too expensive for something that used to cost around $4.00 in the past.

Bobby -

All the ones I see are right around $30.

I haven't seen one in 40 years.

What are you using it for?

Absolutely NO clue what you need or what will work.
But a quick internet search there were a number of items that came up.
Like:   10Pcs Audio Transformers 600:600 Ohm 1:1 EI14 Isolation Transformer.
$10 for 10 transformers.
Put that whole string into Amazon to find it.
If CON is the opposite of PRO
then what is the opposite of Progress?

Sounds like you have a ground loop hum problem and you're using it for isolation?

The  Valcom VMT-2 works flawlessly at getting rid of ground loop hum.

And it looks good too.

I apologize for not stating what I need the transformer for but I need it for a balanced load of 600 Ohms input for the paging terminals from the output of a key system going to the "Aux/Telephone" input to a paging amplifier.

Thanks for the advice. I was just looking for other sources for the future. It appears as though all of the local sources have gone away while I was away.

I will update the thread when I receive the one I have ordered as to whether or not it works.

Usually use the Bogen WMT1a transformer for that. What it's made for.

The 600:600 transformer you use, are you connecting the primary as balanced to the phone system and the secondary as unbalanced (one lead hot and the other ground) to the amp input?
