OfficeServ 7400 Set Source Number for Groups?
« on: October 12, 2017, 03:18:30 PM »
We use a OfficeServ 7400 for the majority of our site, but we are transitioning to an Avaya system by next year. For right now our customer service group has the Avaya phones for the queue. But our local number was set up on a Ring Group in the Samsung OfficeServ system, and it used to ring to our old customer service number and queue as apart of that ring group. However now, even with forwarding the extensions or ring group to the new customer service number, the local number will still ring to that ring group. I have set the forward on that ring group to reroute, and it will ring only to that group. I have disabled the group, or removed all members from the group, and then that number will ring to other phones on the OfficeServ system. . To list it out:

Local number 254-555-1234 is set up to ring into Ring Group 510. Ring group 510 only has extension 210 on it. If you set forwards on 210 or the ring group, and call the local number, 210 rings. If I remove 210 from the group, and call the local number 234, and 271 will ring even though they are not apart of the ring group, or any other ring group.

How can I check the source numbers for ring groups? Or is there a way to forward that source number directly to our new 800 number?

I have also called our provider to forward that number our 800 number, but I have to unplug the source. I do not want to do that until after hours. Thanks everyone in advance for any help

I'm no tech. Just a software engineer responsible for our own 7400. So, take what I say with a grain of salt.

In 3.2.3, you can send inbounds to extensions instead of just a ring group. For example, I have 3 DiDs that ring directly to our owners. All others have their own ring groups to go to.

Also, look in 2.5.1. The other extensions may be ringing because of the pickup group setting.

Let me know if that helps...

Thank you gregklaus, I have checked both of those before and do not see where I can address the incoming source number. Unless I am missing something... I am by no means an expert in this thing LOL

Nevermind I found it! It was in the DID, I just removed the ring plans completely and it forwarded like we wanted it too. Thanks again!

It looks like you found your problem before I checked in.   :054:

For future reference remember;  DID calls are routed on digits while POTS lines are directed by ringing signal.
