Multiple Ring In
« on: April 02, 2016, 08:26:27 PM »
Is there a way to block nuisance callers in Axxess V5 or did that come much later? I can find nothing in Multiple Ring In.  :016:

Not in the way you're currently handling the incoming call.  Is there a reason you're using Multiple Ring In?

Now I hear the music from Jeopardy playing in my head. :002:

The short answer is probably because that is how we inherited the system when we took over the customer. The phones ring in at several different stations and often who answers the phone is often based on who is calling. How else would we do it? Should it ring into a single linear hunt group with all phones?

Well, Stacey will tell you I'm big on using Call Routing Tables.  In fact she had to help me figure out how to make them work on the NEC.  It's something Ken brought to the table many years ago and our clients absolutely love them.  You'll have to assign the trunk group to ring into a CRT.  Then from top to bottom in the table you can make your blocks ring to a CRA disconnect (or other method).  You can also assign customer numbers to ring to a given extension, and anything not defined previously will exit the table on the last line to your preferred method of ring in, rather that be a CRA or a linear ring.  There are a host of wildcards and they're all shown in an obscure, tucked away corner of the manual.  You may have to search for it if you have a pdf copy.

This is incredible! I managed to get a few lines of a table working in spite of the manual, but I still have some problems. How do you get whatever is not matched to dump to the main ring group?

Make sure your Call Routing Key is set to Outside Number, and set Ring In Type to Single if you're routing by inbound CID.

How do you get whatever is not matched to dump to the main ring group?

NXXXXXXXXX in the Pattern field, Single for the Ring In, and then your Hunt Group, CRA, or however you want it to ring through. Other wildcards are:

Z = 0 or 1
E= Unavailable or Out of Area

To get rid of the problem callers just create a CRA to disconnect and flush them.

Just remember to keep a list of the nuisance numbers and date added. We had a customer who got an email from one of their import customers who said they couldn't get through from one person's phone.

Well... one of the nuisance numbers had re-cycled back through the LEC and was now a DID on a PRI that their customer was calling from and they were getting an immediate disconnect.

That's funny Marc.  What are the odds?  Our CRA goes to a recording that plays the SIT followed by the standard, "You've reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.."  :011:

Just remember... I was the cop who pulled into the 7-Eleven just as the guy who was robbing the place ran out and nearly ran into my patrol vehicle. What are the odds..?

Now we are off topic...

Great to see the knowledge base here being put to good use.

Well since we're off topic anyway, I had a couple of those, Marc.  One was when I was grabbing some cash to go out one night.  I was working in a college town and the closest ATM was in Ed. North by the university library.  You couldn't drive up to it.  It was more of in a courtyard.  It was after dark, and no night classes in the area.  I was in plain clothes with a 45 under by blazer when a kid walks up behind me and says, "This is a stick up."  Bad move on his part.  :008:

And now back to our regularly scheduled tech programming.   :011:

:011: You guys must be a gas to drink with.

Thanks for the PM Marc. I guess we could put the date they were blocked in the name field in the table.
