7895 and 7896 cordless sets
« on: June 17, 2015, 05:56:13 PM »
The following is a PM I received from new member "Jerry"

I have a Panasonic telephone system which has a KSU.   Three of the telephones instruments are KX-TD7895 (wireless).   I have 3 incoming lines - F1, F2 and F3.  Over the years all three wireless phones have died.   4 questions:
1. My question is if I replace just the wireless handsets is there any programming required to get it to work with the current base station and/or KSU?
2. Currently I can make outgoing calls without pressing "9" - is that setup by selecting a sequence of numbers in the handset?
3. The F4 button is used for paging thru all the other phones
4.  Is there any reason I should consider purchasing the KX-TD7896?  I should have 2 pair of wire at the base station location.  However, my thinking is with wireless routers using that frequency maybe I'm better off staying with the 7895.

Thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry, welcome to our board!
No need to PM questions just post them here in the open forum.

Lets start by finding out what system you actually have. this will give us our options on the replacement cordless sets.
The 7895 is history and you couldn't replace just the hand sets anyway.
I wouldn't be concerned about interference with the 7896 sets.
There will be some programming involved with the new cordless sets.
You should consider going into a TDA50G or NCP 700.
