Request: Program Key for Extension Pickup
« on: March 23, 2015, 03:43:10 PM »
Good day, everyone.
In my office, we have the main line ringing into an extension in the customer service department, in which there are 4 people.
When they hear the one phone ring, currently they use PICKUP-101 to pick up the incoming call.
Is there a way to to program that into a single button, so they can pick up by just pressing that button?
I've not been able to get the <pickup> function to map in any manner.

We are using ESI-200 system, with 48-button phones.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Paul,

I'm not an ESI guy, but just wanted to say welcome to the board.  John Grider is our resident ESI Guru and can likley answer any question you may have.  He was online a little earlier today and checks in often.

Welcome Paul

In order for a non-ringing phone to take a call that is directed to a ringing phone you can shorten the procedure to 2 steps by pressing P/UP (star) and then pressing the associated station key on the phone that is programmed as Ext. 101. More than likely the associated extension key will be blinking during the incoming call ring.

The wise way to work this is to put the 4 extensions that might answer in a group and when ext 101 steps away he/she forwards to the group. In the group, if it rings pick it up and say hello.

There are other options but I would need to know more about your custom programming to recommend efficiently.

Upon further review, you could put the 3 extensions that are not 101 in the 3rd ring scenario. That way if 101 does not take the call the personnel at the other 3 extensions could just answer when their phone rings without pushing anything.

Grider, we currently have it down to Pickup*/Extension, but I was hoping to shorten that to a single button.
These extensions also have their own numbers and persons, so they'd need to ring when their own numbers are dialed.

Thank you so much for your assistance.
