Valcom 2300a
« on: February 15, 2015, 04:39:57 PM »
Hi all, really good to find this site.
I have been in the trade over 20 yrs and as they say nobody knows it all.
I am thinking of bidding a small 3 zone paging job. A new KSU which I won't be bidding is in the works, brand unknown. I am looking at Valcom 2300a.
Looked over install information from website and it seems straight forward.
My problem is I have never installed a whole system before and I am weak on ground start loop start etc..
If help is available, is this out of my league. I have a real good grasp of concepts and a very well rounded background. The troubling part is tying paging system to phone system. Is Valcom tech help pretty good?
I just don't have a good PBX/ KSU background but I know know once I get one paging system under my belt, I should be okay.  Comments, advice welcome please!
Again, great to have a forum like this, I hope to spend time viewing post and perhaps I too might offer technical advice

Rich......Welcome to myphonetechs!   :003:

Valcome is right down the road from me and they are a good bunch to do business with.  I'm sure you won't have a problem with support from them.

Maybe you could tell us a bit more about yourself in this forum/thread;

I would be interested in why you are not bidding the phone system as well.

Rich,
Valcom paging systems are really quite simple. The page output of the phone system will connect to a tip & ring pair of the valcom. If you don't know where the page output connection is on the phone system ask the installer to feature it out on one of the blocks for you to connect to. Or if you find out what phone system they are getting just ask us and someone here will know.

The Valcom 2300A is made to be as versatile as possible. It can connect to the phone system as a CO line hence the ground start/loop start capability. That really shouldn't concern you since you are only likely to encounter loop start CO ports if you even go that route. I would be more concerned about the new system being voip or, God forbid hosted. So if I were you I wouldn't make any plans until you know what system you will be dealing with.

Anyone have a link to this system? Can't find anything on their website. Thanks!
