ring over page on valcom horn/ Partner ACS
« on: September 25, 2014, 07:41:26 PM »
New customer , paging quit working after Comcast installed phone lines . I found where Comcast had pulled the cross-connects that fed the valcom paging horn. I toned it out connected it paging works everything good

then the customer tells me the phones used to ring on  the paging horn which he says is more important than voice paging

I cant see anyway this could work , but I don't know what all Comcast ripped out

set up as follows partner ACS rel 7.0 paging on co5  (voice paging works )

valcom 1030 c with small wall wart power supply

no controller or other interface I can find

Strange thing is there is a second valcom horn  mounted a few feet behind the first , running off the same power supply and when I put a tone on the input I get the tone sound out
so I'm thinking maybe this is a V9945a warble tone horn  ringing off a contact closure on the ACS but I don't see a ACS contact closure adjunct anywhere

I don't see how this could have been working with what I can find on site

If you put tone on one of the inputs of a V9945a you shouldn't hear the tone- at least not the tone from your toner. I suppose if your toner has a low enough impedance it could trigger the horn, what it is looking for is a short. So if you short the pair going to it does it sound?

If a Partner contact closure adjunct existed it would only have been controlled by button presses on the phones, it has nothing to do with line or extension ringing.

I'm thinking that what you have is a V9925a that was connected to one of the extension ports.

I think your right Hal , I just looked at the V-9925 and that seems logical  unfortunately the speaker is mounted so that its only accessible with a lift so I cant look close at . I did notice yesterday that I couldn't find ext 11 so that could be it I was able to find the cable feeding it so I can try a station port

I've used a V-2001 rather than two horns

Thanks for the input.
