Started a new thread to prevent hijacking Sparky's any futher that I already had.  Sorry about that.

The MICS I want to connect to for purposes of backup/restore is a 4.1 I believe, possibly 4.0.  What is the connection interface from the MICS to the PC?  Serial?  I've seen mention of a RAD device while researching this after NTlayoff brought to light the possibility of backing up our programming, is this necessary hardware acting as the 'bridge' between PC and MICS?  NTU seems to be a difficult item to find, several places give me pricing of a few hundred dollars, but none have it in stock.  Kind of like trying to buy a copy of windows 98.

You will need a RAD (preferably a fastRAD) to connect for back up purposes. The RAD will connect to a station port on one side and give you a serial connection to a PC. It will also provide a modem connection should want to access off site.

NRU is available from Avaya.

Thanks telemarv, was just typing an addition to the previous post, you've confirmed what I've been reading:

The FastRAD attaches to a system port via the distribution block just as a desk phone would.  Then the fastRAD is initially programmed from one of the desk phones.  After that, a serial connection can be established between the FastRAD and a PC running the NRU software with settings 9600,8,none,1,hardware defaults in hyperterminal.

The big obstacle now is getting the NRU software.  Avaya seems to be really proud of it, and the link provided requires me to be "entitled", which I guess having three of these systems running doesn't qualify me for.

Will call them directly next to see if we can sidestep the entitlement procedure.  Thanks telemarv.

Was told I'd have to purchae a qualifying product from them in order to have a 'sold-to' number in order for them to assist me.  Software, which is what I'm after, would not qualify.

Here's a link to NRU 11.  This will only be active temporarily.

Edited to remove link. Please do not post software links. -My Phone Techs
