Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there is anything special (other than physical size, mounting hole location, amp draw and cfm and the connector) about the big fan in the BCM400 Chassis?  It is a 4 wire device which means it may have a tach/gen feedback to the motherboard for rpm or it's possibly a variable speed fan.  Can I replace this with a 2 wire fan?  I am willing to take the risk that my fan LED on the BCM may not illuminate, but obviously if it keeps the system from operating or booting properly I don't want to change it out with a generic.  The direct replacement fans I have found are pretty pricey.

Thanks in advance,

Bruce

Yes you can use 2 wire, you can replace while BCM is live.
