Message on hold
« on: April 07, 2011, 03:42:01 PM »
I have a customer with 6 furniture stores and for message on hold they had the TV station record a piece  with his voice in the style that he use's in TV ads then I went around and uploaded it to the MOH devices . problem is they lost the CD so the last two stores have just been generic Message on hold that came with the MOH units

my question is how can I take the message off one of the existing units , burn it to a CD (or flash drive ) to load it on the new devices ?

Its probably pretty straight forward but audio is not my thing so any suggestion would be appreciated

Skip, what are the other MOH units? On hold plus players or Premier units?
Most of them allow a USB connection and then you can read whats in the flash.
If that's the case, just save a copy in the drive on your lap top and then you should be able
to burn from there.

Because you say they lost the CD, I am going to say you might be out of luck. The older units that used CD's would load the audio from the CD into the internal memory of the MOH Unit so you were able to remove the CD. I am unaware of any known process to take the audio off the old units.

problem solved itself the customer told me they decide to just record a new updated version the next time they do TV ads and they will let me know and I can go around and update them all

I forget the manufacturer I used but it didn't take the CD we just used a CD player to upload to the device , it uploaded with a RCA cable not USB

I was thinking of someway to to just record the output but as I said no need for it now , thanks Guys

Yikes! It sounds like those are dinosaurs. With 6 stores it might be the time for you to sell them something a bit more modern. Premier makes networkable players that you can upload to over the internet from one location. If not that at least sell them something with a USB drive. The production house emails you the file, you copy the audio file onto the flash drive from your computer then just plug the drive into the player. You can send them to the stores through the mail.

they are old units Hal , , the new ones Ive put in do use a thumb drive but the old units are still working fine , I dont think there is any interest in changing messages often , He records his TV commercials and ends with a " SAAAVE BIIIG " and that's what they want the MOH  to have .

they have the TV station do the MOH  along with the commercials

This is a "frugal " customer (we've got a mod key 16 still running in one store and the Old Onyx VS hand me down from corporate in another )

I used this particular MOH player for quite a few years it was from a small outfit in Virgina  and they have been reliable

We can probably do it for you.
There are several generations of MOH systems. The newest load from a usb.  But older ones store the message in internal memory.  I don't know of any that will download from the internal memory to any other source, but we can record the message over the phone and send it to you.  The quality could be pretty good, too.

I think he's just trying to drum up business. This tag-on to a 6 year old topic and the one in General Re: 3 separate MOH messages on one system.
