Anybody want to discuss the MBX?
« on: February 24, 2011, 09:00:28 PM »
I attended the MBX Webinar today for certification and I must say that I'm not unimpressed, if that makes any sense.  I was very surprised that they've done a good job of satisfying us telephone guys by making a new system that really is telephone system, but the design will appeal to the CGs (and the customers).

There are a few things I'd rather seen done differently, but overall, it looks OK.  My biggest concern is maximum capacity, but that is actually small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

My overall take is that LG did a good job of masking a real system by designing it into architecture that the CGs like to see.  Does anybody have any feedback?

Sure, why not....I did the online training, but haven't been able to do the webinar.  Here is my thought: Why would I want to sell the MBX when the LG IPECS will do everything the MBX can?

BTW Ed, the IPECS will grow to 1200 ports.

Ummm... Allegiance to the old Vodavi remnant? That's more or less my present thinking. I'm still wanting to give Vertical a chance. And it's a treat to still get some of the old support guys like Ricardo, etc. And as far as size goes, I've only had a few accounts over the years that would have exceeded the MBX capacity.

From what I've learned from it, I generally like it. I like that it supports several models of phones and the web interface is very easy to use. However, I only installed one that I later needed to pull because of a miscommunication about networking only with the XTS and not the XTSc. Mixing both modular jacks and amphenol connectors on the system is a little odd but I can live with it. It does need a more robust voice mail card however. One that can be used for system networking and other enhanced applications before it's ready for the big time.
