Saw this at the BICSI Winter Conference last night:

They are coming out with a two-wire version in a couple of months.

We just use the putty form of fire stopping compound, roll it and go like Play-Doh.  On drywall penetrations (which most are not firewalls, just smoke/HVAC partitions by the way), we just keep a tiny toothpaste-type container of drywall mud on the trucks.  They sell them for painters at home improvement stores, maybe six ounces or so for about three bucks.  These also come in mighty handy when you go to cut a hole right onto a stud.  A little dab'l do ya!
