New bldg Conduit size foir telco ?
« on: September 15, 2010, 10:46:11 PM »
I have a customer asking for conduit size recommendations for a new bldg/ now I'm fine for the inside portion but she is asking what the builder needs to provide for the tel-co / the last store they built the builder didn't provide it and they had to add it after the fact

they are  figuring 3 co lines and DSL so the requirements are minimal

Skip, around here at&t requires two four inch conduits from the designated location on the property line to the telco closet....one for copper and one for fiber....and the CATV will want one, also.  This usually ends up going to a power pole where all utilities reside.  Check with you local utilities for where they want the conduits.

With that being said, the former Sprint usually wants a two inch....the CATV and everyone else is on their own.... :022:

What Ken said.

You really should have the builder ask the Utilities what they want. Why try to read minds?

Ive never been involved before , but since the customer asked I thought I would ask  here .  Last store they built it was after the fact

the CATV is a good thought for versatility in broadband

Thanks Guys

4 x 4" is the norm here:  Two for telco, one for CATV and one for "other".  Nobody even asks, they just do it.

she copied me the email from the contractor asking her for the specs , I've got the bldg address and Ill go ahead and call Verizon and bright-house tomorrow and see what they want .

the customer is on the thrifty side and I suspect the 4  4 that ed is suggesting will be a bit much but I will suggest it along with whatever the utility ask

the last store she built Verizon calls me asking wheres the conduit ?

this is store 8 so they pretty well now that they want 3 co and broadband  none of them have anything beyond that
